Biology – the study of the living world, including our relationship with it – is one of the most important and exciting science disciplines. Topics explored within Biological Sciences at the University of Reading range from the detailed structures of complex biological molecules to the growth and development of multicellular animals and plants. Biology underpins important human services and industries including healthcare, agriculture, commercial manufacturing and energy. Facilities include the Hopkins Building, which houses teaching and research space, a purpose-built microbiology building, the Cole Museum of Zoology, and a herbarium. There is also a wonderful array of wildlife on our award-winning campus, creating many opportunities for fieldwork on site. Additionally, you can apply your scientific knowledge to a range of other habitats through our optional field courses. These normally take place in locations such as Devon, South Africa, Sweden, Iceland, Spain and Colombia.
