Take your first step towards becoming an architect. You will be taught by experienced practising architects as well as by leading academics. Module teaching is split equally between design projects and lectures. Design projects will enable you to prepare a digital and physical portfolio, while lectures will develop your understanding of related academic subjects and practical skills. Meanwhile, optional field trips to cities such as London, Copenhagen, Venice, Paris or Berlin will give you the chance to look at architecture in a new light. We have particular expertise in sustainable cities; in retrofit and regeneration; and in digital practices, particularly around visualisation and 3D modelling. This ensures that the course reflects not only the very best of current practice, but also the latest developments in areas such as Building Information Modelling (BIM) and sustainability. As a member of the School of the Built Environment, you will benefit from a unique cluster of global expertise in architecture and related fields. You will also benefit from wider University of Reading expertise in related areas such as environmental sustainability; real estate and planning; and art and design.
