WHY STUDY THIS COURSE? You may study this Spanish degree with or without prior language qualifications, and graduate with the same high-level fluency in Spanish. You can choose to go to a university in Spain, undertake a placement in a Latin American country or you can combined both experiences. You may also take a professional pathway that includes Initial Teacher Training, and which includes a £9000 bursary in your final year. MORE ABOUT THIS COURSE This course will provide you with access to our interpreting suite and state-of-the-art multi-media language laboratories. You can study a second language as part of your course, or take on a work-based unit to develop your employability. The University's partnerships with local and international businesses, charities and other organisations offers you a wide range of choices for placements and work during your year abroad. WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR? This course is for students who want to achieve fluency in Spanish, while developing an understanding of Spanish and Latin American culture and history. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE GAINED The course includes several units with work-based skills built into their structure, and the work-based LiFE unit is available to all Spanish Studies students. You may take a placement as part of your degree, either in your year abroad or as a sandwich year, and the Initial Teacher Training pathway is designed to hone your skills for a career in teaching. AFTER THE COURSE You will be prepared to put your language skills to work in several careers, such as travel and tourism, working for international NGOs, consultancy, journalism or teaching foreign languages. You will also be able to consider postgraduate study. With the ITT pathway, you will be prepared to enter a teaching career.
