Develop the practical skills essential for a career as an Optometrist. WHY STUDY THIS COURSE? We have new simulation facilities with state-of-the-art equipment, providing an exciting opportunity for you to train in an innovative learning environment. Our course has been developed in partnership with the College of Optometrists and adopts an integrated-approach to enhance your clinical training. This programme enables you to work towards a Masters in Optometry degree as opposed to a traditional Bachelors of Science. MORE ABOUT THIS COURSE Our simulation facility includes top of the range slit-lamps to examine the eye, with high definition video imaging to enhance your learning experience. As a student, you will be fully supported during your placement in both community and hospital settings. WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR? This course is for those interested in becoming a skilled and qualified Optometrist, who aim to provide comprehensive eye-care to their patients. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE GAINED This programme is structured to ensure you have the necessary clinical exposure in different aspects of Optometric practice before you begin your external placement, consistent with set requirements by the General Optical Council (GOC). The interaction with patients and others involved in a multi-disciplinary setting will provide an opportunity for you to develop both inter-personal and professional skills relevant to your future role in healthcare. AFTER THE COURSE On successful completion, students will be registered with the General Optical Council to practice as a qualified Optometrist. The integrated Master's approach is only offered by two UK institutions.
