Sociology

Sociologists develop a keen sociological imagination with which to think reflexively and critically about almost everything, from why we might dress our female children in pink, to what is missing from the Modern Slavery Bill and the implications of climate change and global migration. Studying sociology makes us question and explore the realities of the world around us; the taken-for-granted notions concerning how the social world is organised. Focused on exploring societies, social relationships and institutions like families, workplaces and prisons, this course develops a strong capacity for critical sociological thinking.
