Nursing (Children)

We take an innovative hub-and-spoke approach to the practical side of the course, which means you will have one core placement based in a hospital ward, complemented by spoke placements allowing you an insight into another aspect of the patient’s journey, such as the care that outpatients receive in the community. As a children’s nurse, developing the ability to communicate with children who cannot necessarily voice their feelings is a fundamental skill, and we will teach you how to effectively interpret children’s behaviour and actions to determine the state of their health. You will also develop a deep understanding of how to provide the best support to families, teaching them to provide care for their child in the home.
