Software Development (with a Year in Industry)

Information Technology continues to spread rapidly throughout most areas of society. Within this the development, updating and widespread application of complex software is the most time-consuming, difficult and expensive aspect. It is widely acknowledged that developing efficient, robust and correct software is inherently complex, and thus there is a requirement for professional software developers. This programme seeks to addresses this requirement. You will study the fundamental principles of Software Development and learn to tackle professional and practical issues as well as enhance your employment opportunities. On G611 you spend a year on a real industrial placement acquiring experience and awareness of practical business and industrial environments. Introductory modules cover Programming in Java, Computer Systems, Databases, Human Centric Computing and Operating System Concepts. You will also take modules in Software Engineering, Database Development and Design, and Advanced Object Oriented Programming, amongst others. This programme includes a related group project and an individual project.
