International Development gives you an insight into the challenges of global development, how people perceive their causes and the ways in which different actors respond to them. Core modules introduce you to key issues such as the impact of colonialism and how different agencies contribute to development. You’ll also choose from optional and discovery modules that allow you to pursue your own interests. It’s a fascinating introduction to major world issues as they are seen in the Global South. At Leeds, you can become fluent in Spanish while gaining an insight into the history, culture and politics of Spain and Latin America. Core modules will develop your language skills and introduce you to the history and culture of Spain and Hispanic America, and you’ll choose optional modules on topics that interest you. You’ll also benefit from the Spanish government’s cultural arm, the Instituto Cervantes, and the Catalan government’s Ramon Llull Institute, which are based on campus.
