This exciting and diverse degree allows you to study performance in workshop conditions while learning a major world language. You’ll acquire a critical and practical understanding of theatre at the same time as you explore the culture and history of the Francophone world. Core modules focus on theatre and language. You’ll study various factors in performance with reference to specific texts, events and cultural organisations in their historical, social and political contexts, and develop fundamental practical skills for the stage. You’ll also develop speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in French, studying grammar and a range of contemporary topics relevant to the areas where the language is spoken. You will be able to build upon and expand this core knowledge in interesting ways by choosing from a wide range of optional modules on the practice, histories and industrial aspects of performance, and on Francophone culture, history, politics and society.
