Film Studies allows you to explore the history and theory of cinema, alongside issues of genre and the impact of digital technologies on this rapidly changing art form. A combination of core and optional modules will give you a good grounding in the concepts and approaches in film studies while allowing you to explore film from Hollywood to Japan and Korea, art house to blockbusters. With the support of the Centre for World Cinemas at Leeds you’ll have a wide range of options to choose from. If you have little or no knowledge of Russian, this degree will allow you to learn the language from scratch while gaining an insight into Russian culture, history and politics. Core modules will develop your speaking, reading, listening and writing skills and you’ll spend your second year studying in Russia to improve them. You’ll also be introduced to Russian culture and literature and choose from a wide range of optional modules exploring topics that suit your interests.
