Chinese and Economics

The past few decades have seen China expand and evolve into one of the world’s biggest economies. This exciting degree will allow you to learn Chinese from scratch and gain an understanding of economic issues in business and society. Core modules will build your language skills from beginners’ level, although we can usually accommodate you if you already have some knowledge of Chinese. You’ll also cover the history, theory and mathematical background of economics. Beyond this, you’ll be able to choose from an impressive range of optional modules in both subjects, covering different aspects of economics as well as the literature, cinema, social issues, politics and history of China and the East Asia region. From the economics of transport and labour to East Asian religions, Chinese visual culture and Sino-Japanese relations, our degrees offer a wide variety of choice. This degree is a great opportunity to gain a broad base of skills and get to know a fascinating culture.
