German and Philosophy

German and Philosophy enables you to learn the German language and about the cultures of the German-speaking world, while engaging with the world’s major philosophies. German is one of Europe's most important languages for business and culture. Worldwide, it is the second-most widely used language on the internet (W3Techs 2014). Fluency in the German language, combined with knowledge of political and cultural developments in the German-speaking world, opens up career opportunities in many areas of Europe. As a student of Philosophy at Kent, you do not so much learn about philosophy as learn to do it yourself. This includes not only studying major philosophies and philosophers, but also contributing your own ideas to an ongoing dialogue. You develop the ability to connect the most abstract ideas to the most concrete things in our experience. In combination with German, you will be in an ideal position to tackle some of the world’s leading German-speaking philosophers.
