By studying History and English, you gain a truly global perspective on each subject. Our English programmes cover traditional areas (such as Shakespeare or Dickens) and also allow you to examine American literature, for a broader perspective on English-language literature. You are also given the opportunity to explore creative writing and recent developments in literary theory. Within History you examine a wide range of sources and study varied historical opinion on subjects spanning different periods and regions – with areas of expertise including English and American History. Both subjects follow a modular structure allowing students to tailor their studies to their own interests.
