Computer Science for Health - University of Kent

Computer Science is an exciting and rapidly evolving subject that offers excellent employment prospects and well-paid careers. Taught by internationally acknowledged experts, this programme would allow you to explore the subject’s fascinating growth as it applies to health and human well-being. The degree covers all of the technical aspects of computer science – including object oriented and procedural coding, software engineering, algorithms, concurrency and human computer interaction. Up to two specialist modules each year cover human physiology and sensing, advanced topics in eHealth, mobile fitness and health-related computing. You would study a broad range of compulsory modules in the first two years, to prepare you for the final year where you can select from a wide variety of exciting options taught by specialist lecturers on cutting-edge computer science topics. We also offer modules to help you gain practical experience. For example, our Kent IT Consultancy option would prepare you to become an IT consultant though providing computing support to local organisations and businesses (while earning credits towards your degree). Over half of the students in our school also choose to embark upon a Year in Industry after the second year. This would give you real work experience, a salary, and a good chance of a job offer even before you embark on your final year.
