**Why Transport and Logistics Management? Transport is the lifeblood of successful economies. Our journey to work, business- related travel and the movement of goods require safe, efficient and reliable transport. Modes used include air, sea, rail, road and pipeline whilst airports, ports, rail and bus terminuses, warehouses and distribution centres act as nodes within transport networks.** Transport and logistics managers aim to make sure that goods can flow successfully through the supply chain. Other equally important players in a business are the logistics analysts, customer service managers and purchasing managers. Transport operators ensure that our rail, bus and coach services are run safely, efficiently and on time. The course aims to give you a thorough grounding in all aspects of transport, logistics and distribution services. We’ll touch on a varied range of sectors, including train operators, bus and coach companies, third party logistics operators, consultancies and even the armed forces. You’ll also study the operational and economic aspects, including passenger transport. How will I learn? You will learn through practical application and delivered lectures, workshops, seminars and group work sessions. - We’ve developed a large number of contacts in the industry like Arriva, Grand Central, Govia Thameslink and Network Rail. - You’ll have the chance to hear some inspiring guest lectures, or go on site visits. - But most importantly, you’ll have the opportunity to take an optional work placement with a business in the transport and logistics industry. - Our emphasis is on giving you a chance to secure a great career. You could follow your goal and find employment in the logistics sector, or work in passenger transport management and tourism. What subjects will you cover? You’ll explore subjects such as Transport Challenges and Issues, Fundamentals of Tourism, Passenger Transport Management, Purchasing and Supply, Manufacturing and Operations Management, Global Business Strategy, Strategic Supply Chain Management and Transport Economics and Policy.
