Fashion and textiles are dynamic industries that offer a world of opportunity. Literally. You could find yourself working for a global fashion brand or an international retailer. We’ll give you the chance to develop a wide range of skills to help you become a confident player in this exciting world. We like to think our course is pretty unique. That’s because we offer you hands-on experience in product lifecycle management (PLM) which is becoming increasingly important in the textiles industry. PLM connects teams around the world in all stages of the product lifecycle, including everyone from designers through to merchandisers, manufacturers and retailers. Become well versed in PLM and you could really stand out in the graduate market and be ready to move on to a successful career. Managing the buying process requires a pretty unique skill set. You’ll have to be able to know how to research new market opportunities, and how to solve problems quickly and creatively. We’ll give you real-world examples to push you and give you the chance to build your strengths. You’ll also be able to work on your visual, intellectual and multidisciplinary skills. If all goes well you should enhance your teamwork and communication skills, as well as your commercial and technical awareness. We’ll support you to find a work placement in the fashion and textile industry. Previous students from this subject area have taken placements with Dr Martens, Karl Lagerfeld, Paul Smith and Anthropologie. We’ll also organise field trips to exhibitions and trade shows aimed to inspire you.
