Our History department has an International reputation for the quality of its research. Undergraduates are taught by leading researchers who bring their evidence and investigations into the classroom. There is a wide choice of modules focusing on political, social and cultural history between 1500 and 2000. Examine films from a historical, critical and theoretical perspective, learn to write like a journalist, study popular media forms including music and the concept of the celebrity, use software packages to design layouts for magazines and websites. Our unique Humanities Programme at the University of Hertfordshire enables you to study a combination of major and minor subjects to create a really bespoke degree that suits both your strengths and interests. The “and/with” in your title means that you’ll be able to either study one subject AND another subject equally (50/50 split) or one subject WITH another (75/25 split). In fact, you can go one step further and customise your degree even more by supplementing your first year with additional minor subjects. Then it’s up to you whether you continue with your unique combination from your second year of study or simply specialise in perhaps just one or two subject areas.
