English Literature at the University of Hertfordshire is a vibrant subject area, with a dedicated, experienced group of staff. Students rate the teaching they receive very highly. In the National Student Survey 2015, 90% of students agreed that staff explained things clearly, 95% found the staff enthusiastic about their subject, and 90% found the course intellectually stimulating. The Religious Studies pathway is equally appropriate to students who have not previously taken the subject and those who have studied it before and desire to deepen their knowledge and understanding. Taught by well-published staff with internationally recognised research profiles, you’ll gain an insight into how the ideas, beliefs and practices of some of the world’s major religious and spiritual traditions have influenced, and been influenced by, the modern world. Modules are designed to interest students of all faiths and none. Whether you consider yourself to be ‘religious’, ‘spiritual’ or neither, you will find that your perspective on the world is enriched, as we explore questions on the meaning of life that go to the core of what it is to be a human being. Our unique Humanities Programme at the University of Hertfordshire enables you to study a combination of major and minor subjects to create a really bespoke degree that suits both your strengths and interests. It’s up to you whether you continue with your unique combination from your second year of study or simply specialise in perhaps just one or two subject areas.
