Physical Education and Sport

This degree includes hands-on, practical sport courses, enabling you to flourish in your chosen specialism of dance, gymnastics, athletics, swimming or games. Excellent sporting facilities, including an indoor airdome, sports hall and specialist dance studio, support your training. You will have the opportunity to complete a sport-related work placement so you can put into practice your new skills and experience. Our interactive degree provides not only activity-based training but vital theoretical study where you will discover the principles of teaching and coaching, with courses related to sport policy, practice and development. You will also examine the scientific, psychological and sociological aspects of the subject. With a sports focus, we help you develop key transferable skills such as team working, problem solving, self-assessment, IT and mathematics. Your research skills will grow throughout the programme, leading to a course of supervised independent study in the final year.
