Mathematics, one of the most fascinating and intellectually challenging subjects, constantly develops the ways in which we live and think, as it plays a key role in most of today's scientific and technological advancements. Students on this programme not only develop a sound knowledge of mathematics and its application to real-life situations but also build up their ability to analyse and solve problems. The degree presents students with an opportunity to acquire skills, such as logical analysis, deduction, mathematical modelling and calculation, which are valued by employers. There is a strong focus on the skills required by employers of graduate mathematicians. The BSc Hons Mathematics has been accredited by the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications to meet the educational requirements of the Chartered Mathematician designation when followed by subsequent training and experience in employment to obtain equivalent competences to those specified by the Quality Assurance Agency for taught master’s degrees. There are work placement opportunities for students on this programme, and we recently introduced a final year course on Data Analytics with input from several employers to ensure that students are well placed to take up careers in this fast-growing field of mathematics. Since many of our students are interested in pursuing a career in teaching, we offer teaching experience through the Undergraduate Ambassadors Scheme. This encourages and nurtures a new generation of mathematicians and provides the opportunity to gain classroom experience through a final-year option. **Ranking** Greenwich mathematics degrees are ranked: * First in London for student satisfaction by the Complete University Guide 2017 * Within UK's top 5 for student satisfaction by the Complete University Guide 2017. In the 2016 National Student Survey, 100% of students on this programme who completed this survey said, “Overall, I am satisfied with the quality of the course.” **Outcomes** The aims of the programme are: * To provide you with a comprehensive understanding of mathematical methods and techniques, and the ability to apply them to real-life problems * To develop your problem-solving and analytical skills * To provide you with experience of practical applications of mathematics, including mathematical modelling in various contexts * To give you training in the use of mathematical software and an understanding of the strengths and limitations of computers and other tools.
