Animation

This programme runs within the department of Creative Professions and Digital Arts, it is for people who are interested in any aspect of animation. We have specialist tracks in the in the degree for people looking to go into the Film/TV VFX industry, the games industry, and a more general "digital art" track. We welcome people with a background in art, both digital and traditional, although this is not a requirement – we are more interested in seeing a passion for the subject area and that you have experimented with creative production of some kind (eg, photography, drawing, video work). During your studies you will develop excellent communication skills and great creative aesthetics, not only in the area of 3D digital design and animation but also in other fields close to your discipline: architecture, motion graphics, fine art, character design, modeling. The programme offers interrelated areas of study in 3D typography, modeling, animation design techniques, software/hardware skills and processes, film, 3D motion graphics, television, computer games, advertising, VFX, architectural and medical industries. Graduates from this programme work in a range of creative industries including the VFX industry for both film and TV work, the games industry, in a number of different roles, and the design industry generally, in areas such as product design, architectural visualisation and others.
