Popular Music - University of Gloucestershire

**Why Popular Music?** Our Popular Music degree equips you with a range of practical abilities, while you build a professional portfolio and network of contacts to help launch your career. You’ll develop skills in songwriting, performance, music production, visual media, live events and community music practice. With opportunities to work on live briefs and gain work experience on placements with organisations such as EMI, Universal Music, ITV, Warner Bros and the BBC, our graduates stand out from the competition. There is also the chance to get involved with projects such as BBC Introducing, undertake roles at Wychwood and 2000trees music festivals, and work on our annual European Capital City Showcase in cities such as Barcelona, Amsterdam and Prague (additional costs may apply, see course web page for details). You’ll draw on the expertise of experienced lecturers whose diverse industry experience includes musical direction for Blur and Gorillaz, soundtrack production for ‘Broken’ (2013) and ‘8 Minutes Idle’ (2012), work for Sony and Universal and even BAFTA award wins. You’ll also benefit from state-of-the-art recording studios and digital suites with industry-standard technologies. This gives you opportunities to compose, rehearse, perform and record work in a dynamic range of spaces. **Why University of Gloucestershire?** We’ve been using our expertise to support and inspire students since 1847.
