In MA Classics and English Language, you will combine the study of ancient Greek language and literature with a linguistics-based approach to the study of the English language. The study of Greek will give you access to one of the world's great literatures: you will read foundational texts of the western tradition- epic, tragedy, philosophy and history - in their original language. This will complement your studies in linguistics, and you will thus be given the opportunity to investigate linguistic structures in both a dead and a living language. The final dissertation is taken in either classics or language sciences You will learn from our range of expert teaching staff, who are drawn from many countries and maintain strong international links. In addition to our own resources and those of the University library, you will have access to the outstanding collections of the National Library of Scotland and the National Museum of Scotland. Both are located near to the University.
