This degree offers an in-depth study of policing for those seeking a career in the policing or investigation sector. It aims to develop awareness of policing demands in the 21st century, current investigative issues and new crime types such as cyber crime and human trafficking. The course is ideal for those seeking to improve their research skills and analytical capabilities. The modules will focus on analysing how police investigate and the governance and accountability arrangements that they operate within. You will examine the policing response to organised crime, murder, rape and cyber crime. You will also gain an understanding of the legal constraints that the modern investigator operates within. Students will learn about the history of investigations and study how serious cases are solved. The module will discuss the police’s role within the wider criminal justice system.
