If you don’t yet meet the academic requirements for our other courses, this programme could be for you. On this course you will gain the skills and knowledge you need to progress to degree level study. Upon successful completion of your foundation year, you will progress to the BSc Physics. You will study a range of compulsory and optional modules throughout this course. This will provide you with a solid grounding in the fundamentals of physics while also equipping you with the tools and knowledge to apply these principles, with the freedom to tailor the course to suit your particular interests and goals. You will gain the foundation needed to excel at degree-level, developing your knowledge in physics topics and mathematics, while also being introduced to interdisciplinary topics such as acoustics, astrophysics, mechanics and geophysics. You will focus on studying intermediate physics topics, laboratory skills, quantum mechanics, and mathematics. You will also be able to choose from a range of optional modules, according to your own interests. These include topics such as Electronics, Renewable Energy, Geophysics, Oceanography, Meteorology and Special Relativity. The final year is relished by our students, as you will get the opportunity to undertake your own unique research project. This allows you to explore the theories and practical proficiencies you have developed. You will also study compulsory modules in advanced physics and laboratory skills, and choose optional modules such as Electricity and Magnetism, Fluid Dynamics and Climate Systems.
