Operating Department Practice

Operating department practitioners work alongside surgeons, anaesthetists and theatre nurses to deliver a vital role in the management and care of patients undergoing surgical procedures. The course is a two-year Diploma in Higher Education and is approved by the Health and Care Professions Council. You will spend 60% of the course on clinical placement, enabling you to develop competence in patient care, clinical skills and in the use of technology within the operating theatre environment. Over the two years you will gain competence and confidence in all aspects of peri-operative practice. By the time you graduate you will be able to provide evidence-based patient care to a high standard. Please note this course is not open to international applicants.
