International Development with Anthropology with Overseas Experience

Combine an interest in culture and society with international development. You will study how people live, understand and interact within particular environments. You will also examine how international development is affected by different cultures and how it affects social transformation. You will explore all aspects of cultural diversity, including different economies, types of social organisation, kinship, marriage and descent patterns, and ritual and belief systems. You will also discover the local impacts of the different aspects of international development, including economic growth, and both social and cultural transformation. Approximately half of our undergraduates decide to spend three to four months overseas on the Development Work Experience module in their third year, working on a development project. An overseas experience will provide you with valuable insights and practical experience in a different country, and a chance to develop personal skills that are welcomed by employers. Destinations span Africa, Latin America, North America, Europe and Australasia.
