Economics with a Year Abroad - University of East Anglia

**About This Course** How do the choices of individuals and firms combine to drive the modern global economy? And how can this economy be best aligned with human goals? By asking these questions you will get under the skin of business and politics. You'll develop an understanding of what makes the world tick. You'll discover how economic policy can affect social change. And you'll start to form your own ideas about how to make our world a better place. An economics degree is ideal for you if you have a curious and questioning nature. You will enjoy working with numbers, but at the same time, you’re fascinated by human behaviour. You might know exactly what career you want to go into – or you may know that an economics degree keeps your options open, possibly more than any other. In your third year you will spend a year abroad at one of our many partner universities across the world. This is your chance to study your degree while immersed in a completely different culture – giving you the academic and personal experience of a lifetime. **Overview** Learn how the economy works and how to improve it with our core degree programme with a year abroad. This course is for you if you like to work hard, question everything and gain career-shaping skills and experience through living and studying abroad. You will explore all areas of the economy, from microeconomic and macroeconomic perspectives. You will also learn quantitative methods, economic modelling techniques, and how to collect and analyse data. Most importantly, you will discover what really excites you about economics. You’ll be able to take your studies in the direction you choose with optional modules in economics and finance, which cover areas such as labour, public policy, competition economics, corporate finance, financial markets, derivatives, risk management, history of economic thought, the economics and business of sport, alternative investments, and environmental economics. In this way you can build your degree to suit your developing interests and ambitions and ensure you leave UEA with a degree that matches your goals. The time you’ll spend studying abroad is a fantastic chance to show future employers you have what it takes to succeed in an international setting, and get an insight into the economic issues of another country. **Disclaimer** Course details are subject to change.
