Economics and Finance with a Placement Year - University of East Anglia

**About This Course** BSc Economics and Finance provides thorough training in economic analysis with a focus on understanding corporate finance and financial markets. It's an ideal choice whether you aspire to enter employment directly or progress to postgraduate study. **Overview** If you want to understand how the economy works with an emphasis on the financial sector, this is the degree for you. You’ll become an expert in economic and financial modelling techniques and statistical analysis, developing the ability to analyse and understand the economy and financial sector – skills valued highly by employers. Core modules in economic analysis, quantitative methods, corporate finance and financial markets provide a solid base of subject knowledge, while the option to choose modules covering key areas of economics and finance, including the global and domestic economy and the financial sector, enable specialisation in specific areas. On this course you will typically spend between nine and 12 months of your third year in a full-time placement, gaining invaluable working experience and employability skills in a relevant area of your choice. Although you'll be expected to secure your own work placement, dedicated staff within the School and the Careers Service will support and assist you throughout the process of searching, applying for, and ultimately gaining a position. Further support will be provided whilst you are on placement and when you return to complete your studies in your fourth (final) year. Placements are just one aspect of the work-based opportunities available to our students. Over the last few years several of our students have secured internships during their studies at several top companies and organisations including EY, Government Economic Services, Handelsbanken, ONS, Willis Towers Watson and many others. **Disclaimer** Course details are subject to change.
