We’ve developed this course for students who have not completed a traditional foundation course or who are not quite ready to go on to degree level, but who know which subject they wish to study. This course is the first stage of a bachelors degree – it is not a standalone course. Following the successful completion of the year you'll then progress on to the first year of the appropriate degree. This accredited BEng in Motorsport Engineering will give you the confidence and skills you need to progress into the international world of motorsport; especially if you choose to take the year in industry. WHY CHOOSE THIS COURSE? Practical project work is central to this motorsport engineering degree. You might be designing supercharger applications, adapting a car to be used in emergency service training (a real brief from Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service) or building a racing car for the prestigious Formula Student competition. This BEng is also accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE). All of this adds up to a varied and interesting course with good employment prospects. IS THIS COURSE FOR YOU? Are you serious about working as an engineer in motorsport? Do you want to learn in a hands-on way? If so, this BEng Motorsport Engineering is your course. HOW YOU WILL LEARN OPPORTUNITIES AND EXPERIENCES There are lots of events for you to get real life experience at, including scrutineering and marshalling training, exhibitions like the Autosport show, and race meetings. There’s even an annual drag racing event where students can race their own vehicles. We also have regular guest lectures from companies such as Silkolene, PI Systems, Ricardo PLC and Dynojet, as well as speakers from the annual IMechE series. CAREERS AND EMPLOYABILITY Thanks to the practical experience they amass on this degree, our Motorsport Engineering graduates have gone on to find employment with companies like Cosworth, Zytec and EPM Technologies. Some have raced all over the world with teams in F1, GP2 and FIA-GT, and others have worked with a variety of national teams.
