English Literature and Philosophy & Ethics

This course will help you understand and address some of the most important philosophical and ethical questions confronting contemporary society. We are enthusiastic about literature and passionate about helping you achieve your full potential. It might be that you are concerned with questions of modern bio-ethics, what are the possible futures for a genetically modified humanity, or with questions about the existence of God and whether new atheists like Richard Dawkins have solid arguments. It might be that you want to understand how we should organise society or how better to protect the environment. This degree offers you an excellent grounding in a comprehensive range of texts and allows you to follow your enthusiasms, particularly when you choose your own topic for your dissertation. We also offer a distinctive experience of working alongside academic critics, literary theorists and practising writers.
