The BSc (Hons)/MSci Dance Science Programme draws on the expertise of a highly professional teaching team within our dance and sport science departments. This exciting programme will develop your scientific and performance skills enabling you to develop your understanding and application of this knowledge to a range of dance settings including professional companies, training contexts and community health projects. You will be taught by specialists in dance and sport science who will enable you to explore the dancing body and approaches to dance training and performance within the disciplines of Physiology, Psychology, Biomechanics and Somatic Practices. Dance studio practice, including daily dance technique classes, alongside lecture and laboratory based practical testing will enable you to both experience dance physically and theoretically. In second year, the Applied Performance and Health and Wellbeing Pathways allow you to engage with a range of core and elective modules. **Key features of this course include:** - a daily technique class across a range of genres (contemporary dance, ballet, dance fitness, somatic techniques, and contact improvisation); - the opportunity to follow a pathway in Applied Performance or Health and Wellbeing; - options to select areas of study that relate directly to your career aspirations; - regular performances from visiting dance and theatre companies in the University’s Showroom.
