Natural Hazard Management and International Development Studies

Our Natural Hazard Management (NHM) course presents you with opportunities to gain practical (field/laboratory) experience of hazard assessment in British and overseas settings, and to develop the ability to apply geospatial mapping technologies (e.g. Geographical Information Systems (GIS), Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and Remote Sensing (RS)) to evaluate/manage risks posed by natural hazards. International Development Studies (IDS) will help you to understand the dominating influences on all aspects of 21st-century life. Governments, businesses, environmental and humanitarian groups and individuals recognise the need to understand more about development issues and how they can be addressed. You can combine IDS with one of a range of subjects providing additional expertise that might be applied in a development context.
