International Development Studies and Sociology - University of Chester

International Development Studies (IDS) will help you to understand the dominating influences on all aspects of 21st-century life. Governments, businesses, environmental and humanitarian groups and individuals recognise the need to understand more about development issues and how they can be addressed. You can combine IDS with one of a range of subjects providing additional expertise that might be applied in a development context. Sociology: The modules we offer place an emphasis on how a ‘sociological imagination’ can be used to address social issues. In studying Sociology, you will have the opportunity to foster strong communication skills and develop your ability to take part in reasoned debate and analysis about contemporary social concerns.
