History and Journalism

The overarching aim of the Journalism course is to implement an explicitly developmental approach to the teaching of students undertaking it. This means beginning with getting to grips with the underlying principles of journalism practice and theory, before gradually being given greater freedom as you progress to explore how to develop your own unique interests and talents in the context of theory and practice. History: By studying the human past, it can help you gain a better understanding why the world is as it is and a greater appreciation of your place in it. Studying History will help you to acquire the skills that employers value, such as critical thinking, teamwork, communication skills, information handling and original thinking.
