English Language and Journalism

English Language - During this course, you will study the fundamental structures and theoretical principles of English and language in general, and use them to understand and analyse spoken and written English discourse in context. This may include investigating sounds, word meanings, sentence structures, discourse analytical principles, child language acquisition, and language variation and change. Journalism - The overarching aim of the Journalism course is to implement an explicitly developmental approach to the teaching of students undertaking it. This means beginning with getting to grips with the underlying principles of journalism practice and theory, before gradually being given greater freedom as you progress to explore how to develop your own unique interests and talents in the context of theory and practice. Teaching takes place at the Parkgate Road Campus.
