Creative Writing and History

Teaching takes place at the Parkgate Road Campus. The Creative Writing course gives you the opportunity to develop the skills and techniques to become a creative writer in poetry, drama and fiction (flashes, short stories, novels), and also to write critically. You will learn how your own work fits into the wider world of literature and contemporary publishing. In addition, the study and practice of Creative Writing enables you to develop a number of transferable skills that are highly relevant to many different areas of employment. By studying the human past, it can help you gain a better understanding why the world is as it is and a greater appreciation of your place in it. Studying History will help you to acquire the skills that employers value, such as critical thinking, teamwork, communication skills, information handling and original thinking.
