Archaeology and Theology & Religious Studies

Teaching takes place at the Parkgate Road campus. Archaeology is the study of the human past, from the hunter-gatherers of Ice Age Europe to the inhabitants of modern cities. At Chester, our course provides you with an understanding of these past societies and the techniques that we use to study them. The course aims to provide you with a wide range of skills, such as field survey and excavation, critical reading and writing, and scientific analysis; as well as the opportunity to specialise in particular periods or themes. Theology and Religious Studies encourages you to consider the significance of religious practices and perspectives in the contemporary world, as well as inviting you to think critically about the Bible, Christian belief, philosophy and ethics. You will also study a wide range of areas within core subjects of theology, religious studies and biblical studies.
