This internationally recognised fashion design course has a proven track record of delivering the designers of tomorrow. You’ll study a broad range of topics - including market research, fashion illustration, pattern cutting, CAD design, trend prediction and design history - with the ultimate aim of creating a portfolio of your own innovative, creative collections. Everything you learn is designed to help you start a successful career - where possible, you’ll be assessed via live projects with fashion industry partners, and you’ll also study a module specifically aimed at preparing you for work. Our graduates have gone on to have great careers in the fashion industry. Fashion labels Preen and PPQ were founded by graduates from this course, and you’ll find UCLan alumni at work in Jack Wills, Courtesy Shoes, George at Asda and working freelance for M&S. On your placement year, you’ll spend a minimum of 48 weeks putting theory into practice, working full-time on placement for a fashion brand. Positions you could find yourself filling include design assistant, graphics designer, product developer, pattern cutter and knitwear designer, and in some cases placements can lead to sponsorship for final collections and graduate employment.
