Sociology with Study Abroad (4 years)

Sociology is directly connected to every aspect of our lives. It is a well-established discipline, as relevant to the study of 21st-century societies as it is to study of the Industrial Revolution. Sociologists are concerned with society's structures, forms of action and cultural arrangements, and are uniquely placed to understand social change. This course provides you with the academic and professional support needed to develop your sociological imagination. The structure of year one provides solid grounding in sociology, followed by a greater choice of units linked to staff research interests. Units cover subjects such as ethnicity, racism, popular music, modern slavery, migration and intimacy. There is a strong emphasis on research skills, with compulsory units in the first two years. In your final year you will undertake supervised research that draws on these skills. The year abroad is an exciting opportunity to study sociology from another perspective and experience a different society and culture. For further details on year abroad opportunities, please see the Global Opportunities website, http://www.bristol.ac.uk/international-office/go-abroad/
