Our MSci programme is suited to you if you want to gain a solid foundation for postgraduate study or a career in science. The first two years are common to all of our degree courses. You will study fundamental concepts in inorganic, organic and physical chemistry, and applications in areas such as analytical, environmental, materials and theoretical chemistry. You will also develop your ability to design experiments and interpret results, and gain key skills through our chemistry-specific communications and mathematics units. Alongside your study in chemistry in your first and second years, you will study a foreign language, as you prepare for a year at a major European university. You will be taught and assessed in the language of your host university during your third year. We currently have exchange links with universities in Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy and Spain. Your final year includes a 20-week research project, in which you will work with an academic member of staff and their research team on a current problem in chemistry. As one of the UK’s biggest and most popular chemistry schools, we have a superb reputation for teaching and research. Our alumni have established careers with a wide range of employers, including Teach First, GlaxoSmithKline, Deloitte LLP and HM Revenue and Customs.
