This accredited course is taught at the university's Eastbourne campus. The course enables students to develop core midwifery competencies and equips them to confidently apply theory to practice. Students spend 50% of each year on placements with local NHS Trusts in a variety of healthcare settings, and simulate nursing situations in the university's Clinical Skills and Simulation Suites. This enables them to gain real-world experience and confidently put theory into practice before they graduate. Students also have the opportunity to experience midwifery abroad with an overseas observational placement. Successful completion leads to eligibility for registration as a midwife on part 10 of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) single professional register.
