The MGeol takes students from core concepts in the subject to advanced, masters-level study. The course prepares students for further research and employment in fields such as hydrogeology, mineral exploration and geological remote sensing. Practical skills are developed through extensive fieldwork in the UK and locations such as Spain, Portugal and Cyprus, and through access to specialist equipment including geochemical laboratory, X-ray fluorescence, X-ray diffraction and X-ray photoelectron spectrometry and field geophysical equipment. An optional placement year builds experience and a network of professional contacts.
