Civil Engineering - University of Brighton

Our accredited course combines theory and practice through fieldwork, site visits, and individual and group projects run in collaboration with our industry partners. You will work alongside students from related courses, such as construction management and architectural technology, in a way that mirrors what you will experience in industry. You will learn with staff active in research and consultancy who have strong links with some of the UK's most prestigious employers. Real-life case studies of civil engineering projects give you a professional perspective and you will have access to specialist facilities including a concrete lab, hydraulics lab, soils lab, geotechnical centrifuge, dynamics lab and computer suite with specialist software. The option of a salaried placement year provides valuable work experience and you will have the opportunity to learn Building Information Modelling (BIM) to further enhance your CV. You also have the option to study abroad as part of the Erasmus programme. If you achieve the required standard in year 2, you can choose to progress directly to the third year of the Civil Engineering MEng and study towards a masters-level qualification.
