The Live Events Production industry is growing year on year, and there’s a hugely diverse range of careers to choose from. This course is unique in tailoring study towards the live music, festivals, conference and corporate sectors of the live events industry – thus ensuring that your employability is relevant to a number of different roles and backstage work practices. Accessing some of the industry’s leading practitioners and with a broad range of industry partnerships you can be sure that the teaching, work practices and resources on the course are the most up-to-date and relevant to current industry trends. Backstage Academy is based at the largest production rehearsal studio facility in Europe, LS-Live. In the last 12 months many renowned artists and bands have kept the studios busy, including Lionel Ritchie, One Direction, Ollie Murs, Arctic Monkeys, Depeche Mode, Massive Attack, Swedish House Mafia and Sigur Ros. It’s not just live music that finds a home at LS-Live, film and television companies such as the BBC and ITV, brands like Jaguar, Aston Martin Racing and Monster Energy, all use the studios to assist them achieve their production requirements. The site is also home to LS-Live’s award winning stage and set hire division with over 30 years experience in the supply of staging and automation equipment and set construction. Our neighbours here are Litestructures Projects (a specialist in the world of brand experiential, leisure and art project design and build). The family of companies also include Brilliant Stages in Hitchin (whose clients include Robbie Williams, Take That and Muse) and scenic solutions company Perry Scenic (The Killers, Rammstein and Goldfrap) based in Dudley. All this means that with hard work and the right attitude you will gain valuable contacts and insight into the live events production industries. As well as traditional lectures, seminars, examinations and tutors your learning will be enhanced with visits from guest speakers and master class seminars from industry professionals. International case studies and workshops, including opportunities to work on live projects as part of both practical modules and work placement will be provided.
