This degree programme develops knowledge and understanding of contemporary graphics and photographic practice. Digital media as well as the more traditional graphic design and photographic processes are explored through theoretical discussion and debate, which underpin all learning on this course. Creative and innovative practice is the focus of the practical work our students create as they find their own professional direction as graphic design and photography practitioners. As a student you will learn how to successfully synthesise research, develop ideas and produce innovative work for a range of research-led and industry-ready outputs. The programme is built on a series of diverse and challenging practical assignments supported by appropriate theory. These will help you develop the wide-ranging skills and knowledge needed to pursue your chosen career or progress on to postgraduate study. Much of the programme involves the creative use of graphics and photography software, but we are also strongly committed to ideas generation and problem-solving using traditional media and techniques. In addition to your modules, you will have the opportunity to work on projects for clients from inside and outside the University. We will also encourage you to enter national and international competitions, including student awards and portfolio clinics at the Oscars of the graphic arts, the D&AD awards.
