The Early Years Childhood Studies degree is for those students who are looking for a career with children but who lack the necessary work experience, as well as those who are already working in early years and are looking for a formal qualification. The course will provide a sound understanding of the theoretical perspectives that underpin early years and also the skills needed by practitioners in the sector. The course is developed from a strong foundation of early year's courses already being delivered in the School of Health and Community Studies. Specialist tutors include those in Health and Community Studies and ensure a broad based approach that reflects a multi-agency approach to early years. Multi-agency working is an important part of the early years agenda and the modules on the course reflect this way of working. Indeed all of the modules are on the Health Professional Development Framework and for some of the modules you may be taught with other professionals from the health and social care sector. You will be taught through a mix of lectures, tutorials and seminars by teaching staff who are professionals with substantial knowledge and experience based on their work in the early years sector.
