The BSc (Hons) Computer Networks (Top-up) is ideal as a next step from a foundation degree, HND or equivalent diploma in Computer Networks or Computer Security. You’ll get to delve deeper into the subject area while developing your academic skills in a well-equipped and supportive environment. For computer networks to operate successfully, they must operate securely. This means making sure vital and sensitive data is protected at all times against a wide and constantly evolving range of potential disruptions – from simple user error to malfunction and hacking. This is a hands-on course that gives you the chance to hone your technical skills in computer networking, administration and security – and to continue your journey to becoming a professional creator and protector of computer networks. Together, we’ll look at network architecture and management, network design and integration, and wireless networks and security, and you’ll design and carry out a significant project based on your preferred specialism or area of specific interest. The report you produce at the end should clearly demonstrate your competence, and support your progress to related careers or further studies at postgraduate level. Throughout your studies, you’ll have the support and encouragement of teaching staff who are all highly experienced professionals, and who have developed a range of innovative and engaging ways to tackle the technical aspects of your learning.
