Biomedical Materials Science

Our Biomedical Materials Science programme will teach you how novel materials for biomedical application are developed, with a major focus on tissue engineering, orthopaedic and dental biomaterials. This multidisciplinary course is one of the few remaining courses in the UK that covers both materials and biological science equally, meaning you will develop a broad knowledge base in both areas, allowing you to choose from a wider variety of career options in the field of biomaterials once you graduate. Based in the Birmingham Dental Hospital and School of Dentistry, this is the only course of its kind to be taught in a hospital. This means you will benefit from direct input by clinicians into the course content, ensuring the clinical relevance of our teaching.
