This course prepares you to be an outstanding primary teacher. Over the 3 years of the course you will study subject specific units that will develop your expertise in the primary curriculum and you will complete at least 120 days of school and community based experience. Although this course does not include the recommendation for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) successful graduates should be in a strong position to a secure a post in schools as an unqualified teacher. Should you be successful in gaining employment as an unqualified teacher, the University will endeavor to support you to achieve QTS through one of the available routes. The course is both academic and highly practical. The academic units will develop your expertise about teaching, learning, the curriculum and assessments so that you have excellent subject knowledge to support your development as a primary teacher. The practical element of the course will see you develop your expertise as a classroom practitioner.
